The purpose of the role:

As a Focused Improvement Leader you are responsible for realizing improvement targets on output, unplanned losses and labor costs, through a culture of continuous improvement and by realizing sustainable results. Reporting to improvement manager of Elst factory.

Your core tasks are:

  • Identifying improvement opportunities and making improvement plans
  • Analyze and address root causes, define and execute improvement actions
  • Delivery of (new) standards and sustainable results
  • Leading and coaching the 2 Focused Improvement Technicians

Key responsibilities:

  • Identifying improvement opportunities and making improvement plans
  • Identify potential performance improvement by periodic Loss & Waste analysis (playbook)
  • Keep flowcharts with loss & waste up to date (playbook)
  • Translate potential performance improvement and losses in money and opportunities for the company (line capacity, PASO) and prioritize/define the focus area’s periodically, in consultation with production team.
  • Establish mid and long-term projects to increase production efficiency and or reduce the cost base
  • Identify asset improvement opportunities by capital expenditure or WOW Analyze and address root causes, define and execute improvement actions
  • Lead RCA’s on repeating issues to find root causes.
  • Set up or lead multi-functional project teams to address root causes identified and find sustainable solutions.
  • Define, plan and follow up of improvement actions, e.g. wow, training, maintenance, small modifications
  • Apply change control when applicable, to keep in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Work in close collaboration with the shift manager to plan the improvement actions, to take away any obstacle preventing the execution of the week plan.
  • Support improvement initiatives from teams through the application of Continuous Improvement and techniques ensuring appropriate consultation with employees. Job Description
  • Increase process capability of the lines and processes (Cpk) by identifying and analyzing process variation and find solutions to improve. Use 6sigma technics.
  • Using PDCA/SDCA and problem-solving techniques defined in KHC playbook. Delivery of (new) standards and sustainable results
  • Owner of the PASO and financial (cost price) standard list.
  • Plan and conduct performance reviews on unplanned losses against target and define (new) PASO.
  • Ensure the PASO is aligned with planning department after consultation with production manager.
  • In case of performance gaps, pro-actively define corrective actions to meet improvement targets.
  • Ensure speed profiles and machine standards/SMED lists are up-to-date (playbook) by FIT. Leading and coaching the focused Improvement Technicians (FIT)
  • Prioritize the work of the technicians by focusing on agreed actions and improvement plans
  • Coaching and developing the technicians in root cause analysis
  • Coaching the technicians in finding sustainable (poke yoke) solutions

Qualifications:

  • WO/HBO+ education e.g. Engineering, Process/Food technology or Business Administration with basic technical knowledge
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in operations within the fast moving (food) production environment
  • Knowledge and experience with lean/operational excellence, e.g. kaizen, 5xW, DMAIC, PDCA/SDCA
  • Preferably Green/black belt trained
  • Very strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Capable of developing solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of creativity, and innovation.
  • Strong communication skills to all levels, in English and Dutch in verbal and written
  • Able to work individually and in a team.
  • Pro-active and can-do mentality 
  • Proficient in Dutch and English
